- 1Write this to the angel of the church in Ephesus: These are the words of the one who holds the 7 stars in his right hand and walks among the 7 golden lampstands:
- 2I know your works, your hard work, and your patience, and how you cannot tolerate those who are evil. You have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and you have found them to be liars.
- 3You have borne burdens, shown patience, and for my name's sake have labored without giving up.
- 4But I have this against you: you've abandoned the love you had at first.
- 5Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
- 6But you do have this in your favor: you hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
- 7If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To everyone who overcomes, I will give to eat from the tree of life, which stands in the paradise of God.
- 8Write this to the angel of the church in Smyrna: These are the words of the First and the Last, who died and came back to life:
- 9I know your works, your tribulation, and your poverty—though you are rich. I know the blasphemy of those who claim to be Jews but are not; they are a synagogue of Satan.
- 10Fear none of those things which you will suffer: look, the devil will cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried; and you will have tribulation 10 days: be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.
- 11If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. Whoever overcomes will not be harmed by the second death."
- 12Write this to the angel of the church in Pergamos: These are the words of the one who holds the sharp, double-edged sword:
- 13I know your works and where you live, where Satan's throne is. Yet you hold firmly to my name and have not denied my faith, even in the days when Antipas, my faithful martyr, was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
- 14But I have a few things against you, because you have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication.
- 15In the same way, you also have people who follow the teaching of the Nicolaitans, which is something I hate.
- 16Repent! Otherwise, I will come to you quickly and wage war against them with the sword of my mouth.
- 17If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To everyone who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give them a white stone with a new name written on it — a name that no one knows except the one who receives it."
- 18Write this to the angel of the church in Thyatira: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes blaze like fire and whose feet gleam like polished bronze:
- 19I know your works, your love, your service, your faith, and your patience. Your recent works are greater than your first ones.
- 20But I have a few things against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants into committing sexual immorality and eating food sacrificed to idols.
- 21I gave her time to repent of her fornication, but she did not repent.
- 22So watch — I will throw her onto a bed of suffering, and everyone who commits adultery with her will face terrible tribulation, unless they repent of what they've done.
- 23I will kill her children with death, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each of you according to your works.
- 24Now to the rest of you in Thyatira — those who don't follow her teaching and haven't explored what they call 'the deep things of Satan' — I won't place any additional burden on you.
- 25Just hold on to what you have until I come.
- 26To everyone who overcomes and keeps doing my work until the end, I will give authority over the nations.
- 27They will rule with a rod of iron and shatter the nations like clay pots — the same authority I received from my Father.
- 28I will also give them the morning star.
- 29If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches."
