- 1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 2If a soul sins and commits a trespass against the LORD by lying to his neighbor about something entrusted to him, or in a partnership, or about something taken by force, or has deceived his neighbor;
- 3or finds something that was lost and lies about it, and swears falsely — in any of all these things that a person does, sinning in this way:
- 4Then because he has sinned and is guilty, he must give back what he took by force, what he got through lies, what was left in his care, or the lost item he found.
- 5For anything they swore falsely about, they must pay back the full amount plus an additional fifth of its value. They must return it to its rightful owner on the day they present their trespass offering.
- 6They must also bring their trespass offering to the LORD: a ram without any defect from the flock, valued at the proper amount, as a trespass offering to the priest.
- 7The priest will then make atonement for that person before the LORD, and they will be forgiven for anything they did in trespassing.
- 8The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 9"Give Aaron and his sons these instructions: 'Here is the law for the burnt offering. The burnt offering must stay on the altar hearth throughout the entire night until morning, and the altar fire must be kept burning.
- 10The priest must put on his linen robe with linen undergarments worn next to his body. Then he must scoop up the ashes left after the fire has consumed the burnt offering on the altar and place them beside the altar.
- 11After that, he must change out of those garments, put on different clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place.
- 12The fire on the altar must be kept burning — it must never go out. Every morning the priest must add fresh wood, arrange the burnt offering on the altar, and burn the fat from the peace offerings on it.
- 13The fire must burn on the altar at all times. It must never go out.
- 14"'Here is the law for the grain offering. Aaron's sons must present it before the LORD, in front of the altar.
- 15The priest must take a handful of the fine flour from the grain offering, along with its oil and all the frankincense on it, and burn this memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
- 16Aaron and his sons shall eat the remainder of it. It shall be eaten with unleavened bread in the holy place; they shall eat it in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation.
- 17It must not be baked with yeast. I have given it to the priests as their share of my fire offerings. It is most holy, just like the sin offering and the trespass offering.
- 18All the male descendants among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. This is a permanent statute for all your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire: everyone who touches them shall be holy.
- 19The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 20"On the day a priest is anointed, here is the offering that Aaron and his sons must bring to the LORD: a 10th of an ephah of fine flour as a regular grain offering — half in the morning and half in the evening.
- 21It must be prepared with oil on a griddle. Once it is thoroughly soaked, bring it in and offer the broken pieces of the grain offering as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
- 22Whichever of Aaron's sons is anointed to succeed him as priest must offer this same sacrifice. This is a permanent rule — the entire offering must be completely burned for the LORD.
- 23Every grain offering made by a priest must be burned completely. None of it may be eaten."
- 24The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 25"Tell Aaron and his sons: 'Here is the law for the sin offering. The sin offering must be slaughtered before the LORD in the same place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. It is most holy.
- 26The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It must be eaten in the holy place, in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation.
- 27Anything that touches the meat of this offering becomes holy. If any of its blood spatters on a garment, that garment must be washed in a holy place.
- 28If the meat is boiled in a clay pot, that pot must be smashed. If it is boiled in a bronze pot, the pot must be scrubbed clean and rinsed with water.
- 29Every male among the priests may eat from it. It is most holy.
- 30And no sin offering, where any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile in the holy place, shall be eaten. It shall be burned in the fire.
