  1. 1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. 2Through him we have also gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
  3. 3Not only that, but we also glory in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
  4. 4and endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.
  5. 5And this hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
  6. 6For while we were still without strength, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
  7. 7For rarely will someone die for a righteous person — though perhaps for a good person someone might even dare to die.
  8. 8But God demonstrates his own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  9. 9Much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him.
  10. 10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
  11. 11And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the atonement.
  12. 12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so death spread to all people, because all sinned.
  13. 13(For sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted when there is no law.
  14. 14Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a pattern of the one who was to come.
  15. 15But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by one man's offense the many died, much more has the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, overflowed to the many.
  16. 16And the gift is not like the result of one man's sin. For the judgment from one offense led to condemnation, but the free gift from many offenses led to justification.
  17. 17For if by one man's offense death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.)
  18. 18Therefore, just as one offense brought condemnation for all people, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all people.
  19. 19For just as through one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so through one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
  20. 20Moreover the law came in so that the offense would increase. But where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,
  21. 21so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness, leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
