1. 1These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2. 2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
3. 3The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, and Shelah; these three were born to him by the daughter of Shua, the Canaanite woman. Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the sight of the LORD, and he slew him.
4. 4Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar bore him Pharez and Zerah. In total, Judah had five sons.
5. 5The sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.
6. 6Zerah had 5 sons: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara.
7. 7Carmi's son was Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the accursed thing.
8. 8Ethan's son was Azariah.
9. 9Hezron's sons were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
10. 10Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah.
11. 11Nahshon was the father of Salma, and Salma was the father of Boaz.
12. 12Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.
13. 13Jesse's firstborn was Eliab, his 2nd son was Abinadab, and his 3rd was Shimma.
14. 14Nethaneel was the 4th, and Raddai was the 5th.
15. 15Ozem was the 6th, and David was the 7th.
16. 16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had 3 sons: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
17. 17Abigail gave birth to Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmeelite.
18. 18Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. Her sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19. 19After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, and she gave him a son named Hur.
20. 20Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezaleel.
21. 21Later, when Hezron was 60 years old, he married the daughter of Machir, the father of Gilead. She gave birth to a son named Segub.
22. 22Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.
23. 23He took Geshur and Aram, along with the towns of Jair, from them, including Kenath and its surrounding villages—sixty cities in all. All these belonged to the sons of Machir, the father of Gilead.
24. 24After Hezron died in Calebephratah, his wife Abiah gave birth to Ashur, the father of Tekoa.
25. 25Jerahmeel, Hezron's firstborn, had these sons: Ram (his firstborn), Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26. 26Jerahmeel also had another wife named Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.
27. 27The sons of Ram, Jerahmeel's firstborn, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28. 28Onam's sons were Shammai and Jada. Shammai's sons were Nadab and Abishur.
29. 29Abishur's wife was named Abihail, and she gave him 2 sons: Ahban and Molid.
30. 30Nadab's sons were Seled and Appaim, but Seled died without having any children.
31. 31Appaim's son was Ishi. Ishi's son was Sheshan. Sheshan's son was Ahlai.
32. 32Jada, Shammai's brother, had 2 sons: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without having any children.
33. 33Jonathan's sons were Peleth and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.
34. 34Sheshan had no sons — only daughters. He did, however, have an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
35. 35Sheshan gave one of his daughters to Jarha as his wife, and she gave birth to Attai.
36. 36Attai was the father of Nathan, and Nathan was the father of Zabad.
37. 37Zabad was the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal was the father of Obed.
38. 38Obed was the father of Jehu, and Jehu was the father of Azariah.
39. 39Azariah was the father of Helez, and Helez was the father of Eleasah.
40. 40Eleasah was the father of Sisamai, and Sisamai was the father of Shallum.
41. 41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
42. 42The sons of Caleb, Jerahmeel's brother, were Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and the sons of Mareshah, the father of Hebron.
43. 43The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44. 44Shema was the father of Raham, the father of Jorkoam, and Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45. 45Shammai's son was Maon, and Maon was the father of Bethzur.
46. 46Caleb's concubine Ephah gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was also the father of a son named Gazez.
47. 47The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Gesham, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48. 48Caleb's concubine Maachah gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah.
49. 49She also gave birth to Shaaph, the father of Madmannah, and Sheva, the father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb's daughter was Achsa.
50. 50These were the sons of Caleb, the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah: Shobal, the father of Kirjathjearim,
51. 51Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Bethgader.
52. 52Shobal, the father of Kirjathjearim, had sons: Haroeh and half of the Manahethites.
53. 53The clans of Kirjathjearim were the Ithrites, the Puhites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. From these clans came the Zareathites and the Eshtaulites.
54. 54The descendants of Salma included the people of Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Ataroth, the house of Joab, half of the Manahethites, and the Zorites.
55. 55The clans of scribes who lived at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Suchathites. These were the Kenites who came from Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
