  9. 9Pilate responded, "Do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?"
  10. 10He could tell that the chief priests had handed Jesus over because they were jealous of him.
  11. 11But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to demand that Pilate release Barabbas instead.

  19. 19They beat him on the head with a stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in fake worship.
  20. 20When they were done mocking him, they stripped off the purple robe, put his own clothes back on him, and led him out to be crucified.
  21. 21A man named Simon from Cyrene — the father of Alexander and Rufus — was passing by on his way in from the countryside. The soldiers forced him to carry Jesus' cross.

  30. 30save yourself and come down from the cross!"
  31. 31The chief priests and scribes mocked him the same way among themselves: "He saved others, but he can't save himself.

  45. 45Once the centurion confirmed it, Pilate released the body to Joseph.
  46. 46Joseph bought a linen cloth, took the body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and placed it in a tomb that had been carved out of rock. Then he rolled a stone across the entrance.
  47. 47Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses watched carefully and saw where he was laid.
